2012 Tour De France Jerseys 17 Apr 2012 by Ed
I wouldn’t normally eulogize about another manufacturer’s cycling jerseys, but this is different…
Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited to see the new Tour jerseys by Le Coq Sportif and I think they are really rather special. Le Coq Sportif made the Tour jerseys for many, many years before loosing them to Nike in 1988 so they are determined to make an impact with these new designs.
The design for the actual jerseys that will be worn by the pro-riders feature a new Le Coq Sportif logo updated by Ron Arad (more contemporary and now facing right to look forward, not back), a new collar design that gives it an almost a ‘real shirt’ collar look and has extra tech in the form of longer skin tight sleeves and extra ventilation areas.
For the versions that you and me will be able to buy, you still get the new style collar but the normal arms. So, sadly your guns won’t be popping out like the pros.
I understand that LCS also have some other products that will be released shortly to celebrate their sponsorship of the Tour and I can tell you, they are equally well considered. But, if I showed you pictures, I’d have to kill you.
